More than 200 Scouts and Scouters tested their Scout skills IndianaJones style during the District Camporee, hosted by Troop 542 at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation during the weekend of October 26-28. Although the weather was rainy and windy, troops from Baden-Powell District and beyond camped for the weekend and on Saturday participated in 10 different skill-based challenges, each hosted by Scouts and each having a theme drawn from an Indiana Jones movie! Activities included orienteering, knot tying, fire building, climbing, an obstacle course, first aid, campcraft, paintball shooting, watersports and archery. A delicious catered lunch was served at mid-day, soeveryone could take a well deserved break and get warm.

At the conclusion of the competition, troops made their own dinners, then joined 542 for the evening program consisting of an interfaith service, indoor campfire with skits from all of the participating units, the awards presentation and an Indiana Jones movie complete with popcorn. There was even an appearance by Indiana Jones himself, who looked a lot like Scoutmaster John Schultz! The overall winner of the event was Troop 219, while a combined patrol of Cub Scouts from Pack 408 in Fort Washington and Pack 410 here at Supplee came in second and Troop 320 came in third. Many thanks to the Scouts and adult leaders who organized and led the event, which got rave reviews.
