Light the torch; the Olympics are here!

On October 9, 2026, our scouts headed to Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation for a weekend packed with competition, camaraderie, and camp tradition.

The games officially started Saturday morning with a formal opening ceremony. Right out of the gate, patrols faced off in preliminary matches of basketball, spikeball, cornhole, and gaga ball. After refueling at lunch, the scouts pushed through a challenging mile run before heading into the high-stakes playoffs. Shoutout to the Eagle patrol for dominating the basketball court, and the Lightning patrol for securing first in spikeball! A fast-paced 100-meter sprint capped off the afternoon’s athletic events.

After dinner, the Eagle patrol locked in their victory as the cornhole champions. The day concluded around a roaring campfire filled with scout-led skits, classic songs, and plenty of laughs. The troop also took a meaningful moment during the fire to conduct a formal flag retirement ceremony, ending an incredible weekend on a proud and respectful note.

On a rainy Sunday morning, the troop packed up their gear and held an interfaith service. The service focused on the theme of endurance, a trait truly demonstrated by the scouts throughout the trip. Troop 542 returned home with plenty of bragging rights, new skills, and a whole lot of memories.
